Chemical Peel Aftercare: Your Complete Recovery Guide

Chemical Peel Aftercare: Your Complete Recovery Guide

"Congratulations on completing your chemical peel treatment! To ensure the best results and support your skin's healing process, please follow these aftercare instructions carefully."

Immediate Aftercare (First 24-48 Hours)

Avoid Makeup: "Your skin needs time to heal, so avoid applying makeup for at least 24-48 hours after your chemical peel." When reintroducing makeup, use gentle, non-comedogenic products.

Avoid Sweating or Intense Exercise: For 48-72 hours post-treatment, avoid activities causing excessive sweating including exercise, saunas, or hot yoga, as "Sweat can irritate the treated skin and interfere with the healing process."

Be Gentle with Your Skin: "Cleanse your skin with a mild, non-irritating cleanser...and lukewarm water." Avoid hot water, steam, or harsh rubbing. Apply hydrating cream liberally when skin feels dry or tight.

Stay Hydrated: "Drink plenty of water to keep your skin hydrated from the inside out. Proper hydration supports your skin's recovery and helps maintain the results of your peel."

Short-Term Care (First Week After Peel)

Avoid Sun Exposure: "Your skin will be more sensitive to the sun." Minimize direct sunlight for at least one week. When outdoors, wear broad-spectrum SPF 30+ sunscreen, reapplying regularly, plus hat and sunglasses.

Do Not Pick or Peel: "Your skin may begin to peel as part of the natural exfoliation process. Do not pick or pull at the peeling skin, as this can cause irritation or scarring." Allow natural shedding; trim larger areas with nail scissors if desired.

Avoid Exfoliation: "Do not use any exfoliating products, scrubs, or harsh cleansers for at least 5-7 days after your chemical peel."

Keep Your Skin Hydrated: Apply gentle, hydrating moisturizer multiple times daily. "Avoid products with strong fragrances or active ingredients, such as retinoids or exfoliants, until your skin has fully healed."

Long-Term Care (1-2 Weeks Post-Peel)

Skip Harsh Treatments: "Avoid any other facial treatments, including waxing, laser treatments, or other physical or chemical exfoliants, for at least 1-2 weeks post-peel."

Be Patient with Results: "While you may notice some immediate improvements, it can take several days to a week for your skin to fully reveal the effects of the peel."

Ongoing Care

"If you experience any unusual redness, swelling, or discomfort that lasts longer than expected, reach out to your provider for guidance." Regular follow-ups ensure proper healing.
